Fabric Materials Used in Rubber Conveyor Belts

Fabric materials used in rubber conveyor belts are categorized into two major types based on texture: metal and fiber. The evolution of conveyor belts relies heavily on the advancement of fabric material performance. Key attributes such as strength, stretching characteristics, toughness, and dimensional stability are closely linked to the fabric material used.

The primary fiber fabric materials used in conveyor belts include cotton, polyester, nylon 6, nylon 66, and aramid fiber, with other fibers being less common. We provide fabric conveyor belt for stacker conveyor and mobile ship loading conveyor for your projects. Types of Fiber Fabric Materials:

Cotton Fiber

Cotton fiber, characterized by medium breaking strength, is suitable for producing bottom-weight fabrics that don't require high strength. Due to its hairiness, cotton fiber has excellent mechanical adhesion to rubber, eliminating the need for dipping treatment. However, as a natural fiber, cotton is relatively expensive and not highly cost-effective.

Nylon Fiber

Nylon fiber boasts high breaking strength and elasticity, but its low modulus allows for significant extension through creep deformation. Consequently, it is often used in short-haul applications where high elasticity and a large safety factor are required. Nylon is particularly advantageous as a weft material in the polyester/nylon blend-dipping process due to its low modulus and good troughability.

Polyester Fiber

Polyester fiber stands out with high breaking strength and high modulus, resisting extension through creep deformation. Among all fiber materials, polyester offers the highest strength and best cost performance, making it the most widely used in conveyor belts. Its excellent weather-proof performance prevents corrosion and rot, unlike steel wire and cotton yarn, respectively. Polyester also resists solarization and acid rain, making it an ideal material for conveyor belts.

Aramid Fiber

Aramid fiber is known for its high breaking strength but struggles with compression and dynamic fatigue. Its high price also limits its application in conveyor belts to a certain extent.
